Artwork Preparation Tips
File Formats:
We are able to process files in the following formats:
AI - Adobe Illustrator
EPS- Encapsulated Postscript
PDF- Portable Document File
PNG - Portable Network Graphic
JPG- Jpeg files, 1200 dpi or higher, in 100% CMYK black (K)
TIF - Tiff files, 1200 dpi or higher, in 100% CMYK black and white
Please save all files at 100% size, if not it can save and open larger than the original art is intended. Files from other programs, including Corel Draw, Microsoft Word, and Canva need to be saved as pdf files. We don’t accept CAD files, as they are incompatible with our programs, often having incomplete lines, and distorted type. We are also unable to process Password Protected files.
Raster art, such as jpg and tiff files that are saved at less than 1200 dpi may be too rough to make a good
die. Re-saving them in a different format will not make them better.
Color:
Our process requires files with images in 100% black, we request that you send your artwork in 100% black, or 100% of another color that we can change to black.
We are unable to process art in RGB as these color settings cause there to be multiple colors throughout your art. Having the art at 100% K black ensures the detail will etch onto the metal.
Scanned Art:
Scans and Screenshots of your art are helpful to our team for complex layouts, small details, and clarifying your instructions. When scanning artwork, please remember to scan at 1200 dpi or higher, and use the black and white setting in your scanner software.
Fonts:
Please be sure to outline all fonts in your files. Since we may not have access to the specific fonts you’ve used, outlining prevents any substitutions when your files are opened. It also preserves your intended kerning, spacing, and overall formatting, while ensuring both parties remain compliant with font licensing requirements.
Drill holes, Countersink, & Counterbore:
When placing the circle for your drill holes:
Use a stroke instead of filling the circle.
Make sure they are the size you want the hole to be.
Place circles for your drill holes on a separate layer or make them a different color from your art.
Remember that we will be drilling the hole for the outside of the screw head and to leave 1/8” beyond the outer hole for a if Countersink or Counterbore is wanted and to keep your art from being damaged.
Large Files:
We can accept files up to 10 megabytes via e-mail. For larger files, please upload to WeTransfer, using the instructions under Uploading Instructions, or upload to your ftp site, send us a link and instructions.
